Each dental hygiene appointment is customized to your specific needs, constantly monitored to maintain optimal dental health and prevent more involved and costly dental treatment.

In Dentistry, we can treat problems at various levels. Some patients want to treat a problem when they know something is wrong or when they are having pain. Others want to treat problems when something is about to break, hopefully before they are having any symptoms. Still others want to be proactive to prevent problems from happening in the first place, clearly before any symptoms develop. Prevention treatment is where most patients want to be. What level of treatment are you interested in?

For healthy teeth, teeth with existing restorations and implants, the goal is always the same; provide you with the best maintenance therapy!

When extensive dental work has been completed, it is extremely important to maintain your investment and prevent further treatment. Excellent fitting restorations will help you preserve optimal dental and periodontal health.

Patients often express their concern with dental radiographs. We utilize the most modern digital technology for intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs, providing excellent image quality at the lowest dose, and only taking the required radiographs for a proper diagnosis. For patients with anxiety about gag reflex while taking intra-oral films, we have the ability to take them extra-orally through our panoramic digital machine.

Brushing your teeth daily with toothpaste can be harmful to your teeth and gums! We recommend every night to floss your teeth first to remove the plaque/food in between your teeth; then rinse thoroughly for 10 seconds with only a small amount of mouthwash (One with antibacterial properties for the gums, fluoride to make the teeth-roots stronger and with no alcohol), we recommend Listerine Total Care Zero). Angle the brush towards the gum line and proceed to brush your teeth following the contours of the teeth and gums in a gentle circular and not scrubbing motion (always with a soft or extra soft toothbrush) with the mouthwash that is already in your mouth. The mouthwash will replace brushing your teeth with toothpaste every night and in the morning alternate between the mouthwash and brushing your teeth with toothpaste for a maximum of 3 times a week with the toothpaste (no more than pea size). A low abrasion toothpaste we recommend is Pronamel from Sensodyne.

When brushing your teeth with toothpaste, always drink water first so there is no friction from the toothpaste against dry teeth; start on any biting surface and brush your teeth for around 2 minutes. Ideally, do not rinse with water after brushing with the mouthwash to get the full benefits for healthy gums and stronger teeth and roots. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after brushing your teeth.

These hints help to lessen the chance any one place gets the initial bead of paste, which also would increase abrasion. Even the recommended pastes when used improperly can increase gum recession and damage to your teeth. (* "In Vitro Reproduction of Noncarious Cervical Lesions" by John J.
