Cosmetic dentist Dr. Sergio Rubinstein uses his extensive knowledge of smile design to create custom restorations that replace your discolored, crooked or misshapen teeth with something you can truly smile about.

No two smiles are alike, and we take a variety of factors into consideration when crafting a new smile. The factors involved in smile design include the relationship between the lips and the teeth, facial shape, and even skin tone, to name a few examples.

Below you will find more information about the cosmetic procedures offered at our practice.

We use crowns to help restore a tooth’s function and appearance when a pre-existing crown must be replaced, or a tooth has decayed or to the point that it will not will not hold bonded restoration or veneer.  Crowns can be made of gold, porcelain fused to gold, pressed ceramics (no metal) or zirconia (no metal). Crowns can be made to restore natural teeth with broken down restorations and implants, either as single restorations or bridges.

From a strictly cosmetic standpoint, crowns also may be used to restore a stained or otherwise discolored tooth to make it look as natural as your own teeth. Patients are often referred to our office because of our reputation to manage the often cosmetic challenges to mimic a natural tooth with a porcelain restoration. Our in house master laboratory technician enable us to create exceptional fitting and esthetic restorations.

If you are in need of an implant dentist, Chicago dentist Dr. Rubinstein is here to provide the expert treatment you require. Dental implants help create the next best thing to a natural tooth. But just as you wouldn’t pour the foundation of a house until you knew where you wanted it located on the lot, we don’t place an implant until we know where it is best to place it for optimum results.

We work hand-in-hand with a surgeon who places the implant after we have thoroughly examined the location, available bone, and the relationship of the available bone to where the prosthesis will be. The pre-placement planning of an implant is incredibly important, as it can mean the difference between a restoration that cannot be told apart from a neighboring natural tooth, and the absolute inability to use the implant.  Diagnosis, meticulous planning and execution in addition to our master laboratory support are a signature of our practice that provides patients with amazing results.

Patients requiring full mouth reconstruction have often severe problems due to bone loss, worn teeth, shifted teeth, loss of vertical dimension and poor bite and in some instances temporomandibular problems(TMJ). A thorough comprehensive examination is an essential first step to plan and recreate the road map to restore aesthetics, function and dental health.  We like to call this “invisible dentistry,” because when we complete your restoration, it will appear as though you have maintained your natural teeth all your life. Whether your teeth are broken, chipped, discolored, decayed, missing or a combination of these conditions, we can use our expertise to have you smiling again with confidence.

First, we will work with you to determine your goals regarding your smile and create a road map to make your dream a reality. Then we will get to work to make it happen.

Dentures can be a challenging procedure due advanced bone loss. Creating a cosmetic and properly fitting denture is a science and art. Personalized evaluation, knowledge and ability enable us to convert a generic denture into a prosthesis that will enhance your quality of life. In some instances, we can use implants to enhance the support and retention. The combination of these procedures are always customized to your specific needs. Our exceptional laboratory support is a signature for exceptional results.

“Porcelain veneers” or “dental laminates” are thin, custom created shells or jackets designed to cover the fronts of teeth. Bonded porcelain veneer restorations offer a durable and predictable way of creating or restoring beauty to a smile and/or can be used to re-establish function and strength. These thin sheets of ceramic are becoming a very popular treatment choice for cosmetic dentists and prosthodontists. Veneers only cover the parts of the tooth that have been damaged or injured or that require modification of shape or color and they can be a far more conservative alternative to dental crowns.

For posterior teeth the replacement of amalgam (silver fillings) or gold can be accomplished with conservative techniques with tooth color restorative materials. Bonding on posterior or anterior teeth can be accomplished with direct restorations (one appointment) or indirect restorations (two appointments) where the restoration(s) are created in the laboratory. These techniques are extremely sensitive and must follow a very specific protocol for proper execution. They require time and expertise and a great deal of attention to detail and it must be done under proper isolation techniques. We use these techniques routinely because of their conservative nature and exceptional results.

Bonding is an esthetic and conservative technique that replaces the lost tooth structure. Direct bonding is usually done in one appointment and does reflect the knowledge and artistic ability of the dentist by combining science and art. While all dentists offer this technique, it is extremely sensitive and must be carried out meticulously to achieve excellent results.

Minimally invasive Dentistry is a concept that can embrace all aspects of the profession. The common delineator is tissue preservation, preferably by preventing disease from occurring and intercepting its progress, but also removing and replacing with as little tissue loss as possible.

Common symptoms include headaches, cold sensitive teeth, pain in or around the ear, tenderness of the jaw, and clicking or popping noises when opening the mouth. These symptoms are commonly referred to as TMJ, or more accurately as temporal mandibular joint dysfunction.

People who suffer from these symptoms have found relief with treatment offered by Dr. Rubinstein. It is our goal to achieve maximum improvement with comfort and normal function, while using the least invasive and conservative treatment possible. For some patients, the ideal can be achieved, while for others, depending on the nature and stage of the illness, effective management is the maximum goal. Depending on the nature and severity of an individual patient’s condition, the appropriate therapy is determined. For some, a night guard designed to relax muscles and reduce inflammation is used. For others, more comprehensive diagnostics and dental restorations are needed.

A brighter, whiter smile can often have a positive impact on one’s social life, not to mention provide a healthy boost of self-confidence! Whether you’re looking to create memories for a lifetime with a dazzling smile at your wedding, or to leave a lasting impression at a job interview or reunion, teeth whitening is a fast way to get dramatic results.

Whitening your teeth can also be a great way to complement other types of cosmetic dentistry, as well, such as an Invisalign® treatment.

Placing the teeth in the correct position can be critical for an optimum outcome, regardless of teeth requiring or not a restoration. An individualized specific treatment plan is essential for achieving a long lasting healthy, esthetic, and functional results. Patients are referred to our office because of our knowledge, vision and dedication to provide patients with the best results, keeping in mind short and long term objectives. When Invisalign® is used, we always customize the treatment plan for optimal results. In many instances, orthodontic treatment is required when patients require periodontal and or prosthetic treatment plan. Team goals created with our orthodontic colleagues enables us to provide our patients with the best possible results.

As patients have made a commitment to restore their mouth to long term dental health, we have the same goal to guide you and provide excellence in your maintenance with our hygienists. Your appointments will be customized according to your specific needs, which will confirm why we are the clear choice as an office for your long term dental health.

In Dentistry, we can treat problems at various levels. Some patients want us to treat problems when they know something is wrong or when they are having pain. Others want to treat problems when something is going to break, hopefully before they are having any symptoms. Still others want to prevent problems from happening in the first place, clearly before any symptoms develop. Prevention treatment is where most patients want to be. What level of treatment are you interested in?
